Northcliffe Interpretative and Cultural Centre (NICC)

The Northcliffe Interpretative and Cultural Centre (NICC) was the community project which built the Northcliffe Information and Visitor Centre (NIVC) which is now the home to the Telecentre, the Public Library, The Visitor Centre and the Exhibition space managed by the Southern Forest Sculpture Walk. It took about ten year of planning and and fundraising and is a true celebration of community effort and commitment.

Northcliffe Vehicle registration plates

Car registration plates NCF can be obtainbed through the Northcliffe Telecentre. Contact the manager for a list of availble numbers.
They made a distictive gift and promote Northcliffe. The Northcliffe Naturally logo, designed by Fiona Sinclair is used on the plates

Northcliffe Town Web Site

The Northcliffe Community web site was built by the Northcliffe Telecentre. It was designed to provide local information about community groups, businesses, events, activities and visitor information.

Funding assistance as provided by the former Department of Commerce and trade through its Small Town Economic Planning Program (STEP) and the South West Development Commission.

Telecentre staff, many volunteers and community members have been involved in collecting information, creating graphics, designing and editing the web pages.

The site is now maitained by a volunteer.

Community Directory

The South West Development Commission provided funding for the Telecentre to conduct a community information needs survey, compile a communnity directory and add content to the Northcliffe Web pages. The directory lists local businesses, trades people and a local telephone listing.

George Gardner as born in Pingelly in 1912 and settled in Northcliffe in 1943. His passionate interest in theecology of the south west of Western Australia, particularly the flora, has earned him the highest respect from professional botanists. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to the environment and local communities.

Alison Daubney, a Northcliffe Dairy Farmer published "Making the best of it" in 2000 with the help of many people including the Northcliffe Telecentre. It was follwed by two community history publications - "Northcliffe - I remeber when" and "Pemberton Family Stories". made possible by funding from the Lotteries Commission of WA.

Northcliffe walk trails

Four Northcliffe walk trails have been created thanks to support from the Lotteries Commission of WA, TrailsWest and the Department of Commerce and Trade. This project was managed by the Northcliffe Telecentre.
The walk trails are now managed by the Northcliffe Visitor Centre and brochures are available from the there.

The Northcliffe Wildflowers CD

A Northcliffe Wildflowers CD was developed by the Telecentre based on a botanical notes written by George Gardner
It is available for purchase
from by the Northcliffe Telecentre

George Gardner, born in 1912 and a former Northcliffe resident compiled a remarkable collection of botanical notes on local flora. The notes are beautifully illustrated with photographs taken by Mavis Daubney and Gerlinda Ronk.
The Northcliffe Telecentre has reproduced the flora guide as a CDs and printed volumes in order to preserve the information and make it more readily available to those interested in our native flora.
The Shire of Manjimup assisted the project with a grant to purchase a CD burner.
The time consuming and detailed work of retyping notes, confirming nomenclature,scanning the photographs and constructing the publications was carried out by Rob Routley and Kate Haslam staff.
